How can any know how much you are worthy if you don't show it to her/him?
An answer to these questions is:'Show her/him what you know, for what you are qualified, for what you are competent, and that you are worthy.Tell her/him about it, and please, make an evidence about it.
Who is your biomedicine partner?
She/he is future/present healthcare professional. She/he is student of any biomedical studies at graduate level, or graduated professional, i.e. a nurse, physician and pharmacist which form the core of the health care team. Without these key health care professionals, quality health care can’t be delivered. In providing pharmaceutical care your partner is patient, too.
Demand on healthcare professionals to deliver high quality patient care has never been greater. The traditional boundaries of care between doctors, nurses and pharmacists are not and will not be the same in the near future. This includes the term of 'shared care' or 'seamless care' which imply equal and shared responsibility for patients across the primary and secondary sectors, which could be contentious.
In recent years, pharmacy like other health professions has undergone a change in the way it is practised as a consequence of technological advances and changes in the nature of health care delivery. These changes, including increased accountability of prescribers, the shifting emphasis towards disease prevention and self-medication with focus on primary care, lead health services. All have impact on the delivery of primary and secondary pharmaceutical care.
The demand for advice over the counter (OTC) in pharmacy and the desire for patients to self-medicate, increases globally on a daily basis. Deregulation of medicines from the prescription-only category to pharmacy medicines continues to provide the pharmacists greater possibility and more medicines for the treatment of minor disorders.
The role of the community pharmacist remains pivotal in health care, especially with regard to advice for and treatment of minor illness. Therefore, pharmacists will have to demonstrate that they are competent practitioners to be trusted with this additional responsibility. Additional responsibility requires greater level of knowledge and understanding about commonly occurring medical conditions, new drugs, key concepts and strategies to prevent medications, especially ofdrug safety (pharmacovigilance) and process safety (preventing medications in healthcare) for the sake of patient safety and obtaining the best therapeutic outcomes.
An infrastructure of primary health care in many countries is changing to meet the needs of patients, with new important roles for nurse practitioners, and recommendations for other professionals, besides doctors, to take on the role of prescriber. This change will alter the way in which patients receive their care, especially for chronic disease and for minor ailments.
The World Health Professions Alliance (WHPA: FIP, WMA, ICN and FDI) has been established as unique alliance of dentists, nurses, physicians and pharmacists to facilitate working together and to address global health issues striving to help deliver cost effective quality health care worldwide.
